So I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted. I got a temporary job at my dream employer (Michigan State!) and have been obsessed with being on campus every day. So after getting back on a normal schedule, which was so badly needed, I’m good to go to start posting more frequently again. But I just had to share this once in a life time experience with you.
So now to my current location, South Africa. Omg, I am so in love. They don’t lie when they say that Africa changes you. I’ve barely been here for 24 hours. My aunt and uncle have gone above & beyond and completely spoiled us. I could not be more thankful! #blessed First class flights, 15 and a half hours I may add, but having our own little pod was straight up gold. I’ve never slept or eaten so well on a flight in my life. I mean shit, they had champagne in my hand before I even stowed my carry on!! And if you’re wondering, yes I did spill some of it in classic Erika fashion. Needless to say, it was truly the best flight ever.
Once we landed, we were greeted with hug and hospitality that has been second to none. The people here are absolutely amazing. The hotel and group we are adventuring with greeted us at the hotel with dancing, music, hugs like we were long lost siblings, and literally the best iced tea I’ve ever had.
We started off our first full day here with a welcome reception that included a DJ spinning some native tunes, hair braiding, airbrush tattoos, massages, authentic jewelry (which is gorgeous!) and a damn good fresh coconut smoothie. We then ventured out to do a tour of Johannesburg. And let me tell you, this city is fascinating. If you have the chance to come here, do it. They even have Krispy Kreme! How much more selling do I need to do?!
Stay tuned for more! We’re off to dinner & this girl needs to eat so I can have some wine!
